We need your help to grow this fine organization. Having an organization which advocates for people with LD and educates the public at the national, state and local level is representing our community in the best possible way. As we grow, we need more hands and more thoughts. You will have plenty of support. Will you join us? 1. LDAMC 2010-11 Elections are approaching. In May the slate of officers will be presented to the membership for consideration. The election will take place at the June board meeting. Please consider a nomination now, either yourself or a member you feel is qualified. Email ldamc@ldamc.org or leave a message with LDAMC’s parent advisor on duty at 301-933-1076. Thanks. President – presides at the quarterly board meetings and is an ex-officio member of all committees, He/she appoints the committee chairpersons and performs other duties pertaining to the office of President. First Vice-President - assists the President and in his/her absence (such as a board meeting, illness or vacation, assumes the duties of the President. Second Vice-President – assists the President and presides in the absence of the President and First Vice-President. Recording Secretary – writes the minutes of the board meetings (Sept., Nov. Feb. June) and keeps those records. Corresponding Secretary – sends donation receipts and other letters at the request of any of the officers. Treasurer– works as part of the proposed Financial Team (listed separately in this issue). 2. Finance Team - LDAMC is working to form a Finance Team which will consist of three people. This team will work with the president. All you need is willingness to help and the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. You need to be willing to devout about 4 hours a month at your convenience. You can work at home on the computer. Deadlines are important. Your president did all of this for several years with no formal financial training (with the exception of Quickbooks). It’s very doable. We need 1 person with working knowledge of Quickbooks & Excel to convert LDAMC’s financial report from Cash to Accrual on Quickbooks We need 1 person for 2 hours every 2 weeks (4 hours a month) : - Deposit incoming checks - Write outgoing checks - Reconcile Quickbooks with the bank statememt ea. month - Prepare end of year financial statement in early September - Prepare quarterly treasurer report for Board meeting We need 1 person to: - Prepare 990 from end of year statement in November - Apply to United Way in December - Apply to Combined Federal Campaign in December - File Form 990-N E with IRS in December 3. LDAMC Newsletter - Legislative reporting Do you follow education policy at the county and state level as well as nationwide? Your interest could help LDAMC to respond to bills moving through legislation from an LD perspective. Not all bills are in the best interest of the LD community.
